Support and Education for At-Risk and Orphaned Children

Description and Impact

It is extremely difficult to provide a decent education for the children of Cape Coast.  Once you start venturing out into the rural villages of the Cape Coast region that level of accessibility to education drops exponentially.  The communities are deprived of basic education or structures to call schools.  This is especially true for orphanages whose main goal is to stay alive.  Many of these orphans from rural villages have been “given up” because their families can no longer support them; leaving them with very few options and dark future.

What is the overall goal of the project?  This organization takes a multifaceted approach when providing stability and education to orphanages and the disadvantaged youth of these rural communities. They have built a compound that serves as an orphanage and place for the community to congregate.  A school has also been established for the orphanages and children of the surrounding impoverished villages.  Over 300 kids attend the school; who would have otherwise have never had access to knowledge or the sense of community and confidence that comes with education.  This unique approach provides schooling, while not diminishing the traditional life of the village.
