Teach Kids that it’s Easy Being Green | Overview
Description and Impact
Climate change, global warming, the greenhouse effect, waning resources- all of these problems are becoming more real every day. Our future is unsure, and decisions we make today affect the lives of our youngest and yet unborn members of society. For this reason, it is not only important for our generation to take responsible actions, but also to educate those of the younger generation to do the same.
What is the overall goal of the project? The goal of this project is to promote environmentally-friendly education among the children of Peru. The association has founded 24 locations where over 5000 children receive an environmentally-based academic curriculum. The schools are designed to educate children from the countryside in an innovative way. The school provides each student with a small plot of land where he/she can learn about the proper care of plants. Children also make crafts out of recycled materials and use all recycled school supplies. In addition to educating students on such standard subjects as languages and the arts, the school focuses on ecotourism, nutrition, recycling, and agroforestation.
