Teach Healthy Cooking and Nutrition in San Ignacio

Description and Impact

This project was developed by a ProWorld intern due to the need for more education on nutrition and healthy eating habits within San Ignacio and surrounding villages. This project will raise awareness through interactive health lessons regarding dietary habits and cooking alternatives to promote healthy living practices. Understanding the local cuisine, produce and economics are important components to making this project a success. Specialized education for school children and their families makes this a very sustainable project since participant reach many generations within the same family.

What is the overall goal of the project? The overall goal of this project is to promote public health within the community from a variety of angles. The approach of “teach someone to fish…” will be highly utilized through outreach and education.
