Self-Help Groups for Women's Empowerment | Overview
Description and Impact
Help support education, women's empowerment and microfinance at one of the largest NGOs in all of Rajasthan. This particular ProWorld partner focuses on narrowing the gender gap and economic divide that grips the Indian state by creating women's self-help groups; these self-starting networks then obtain microloans to carve a path to financial freedom. As an intern, you will get involved in any of the following activities, focusing on community-based microfinance:
- Self-help group assistance and mobilization
- Bank and lender relations assistance
- Income-generating activities with the self-help groups
Qualifications:
- Interest in community- based microfinance and women's empowerment
- Flexiblity and willing to work during off-hours (nights, weekends)
- Curiosity to learn and contribute
- Professionalism and a good attitude!
Requirements: this internship requires at least a 2 month commitment to be successful
