Promote Public Health Education in Schools and Rural Communities | Overview
AIDS is not as widespread in Ghana as it is in other parts of Africa, but it is more prevalent in rural areas. Other STDs as well, go untreated because people don’t want to admit or discuss them. This project brings a gentle touch to education about sexual health with additional information on malaria prevention, reducing the spread of typhoid and cholera and sanitation. You’ll also be recruiting locals who can continue to equip and educate their communities after your program is over. Volunteers will:
- Research education topics and help develop material for presentations and distribution
- Create lesson plans
- Promote sexual health education in schools
- Teach about the importance of hygiene and sanitation in the prevention of communicable diseases
- Talk about malaria prevention
- Travel to local communities and hold workshops
You can help Ghana stop the spread of preventable disease.
