Make Movies to Make the World Green

Description and Impact

Often times the public responds to issues only after they’ve seen them with their own eyes. Making an issue more tangible and understandable allows the public to act with more urgency and develop a more concrete idea as to what needs to be done. Reaching an audience through film is an ideal way to spread information and ideas. Film has the opportunity to cross cultural and physical borders and portray information in a way that would be difficult to convey through other mediums. This project enables participants to hike the rough terrain of the mountains, forests and beach cliffs around Punta Gorda and document the state of environmental decay and restoration in the region.

What is the overall goal of the project? This project aims to document the state of the environment from a new perspective and present it to the public in an innovative and interesting format. Participants in this project will have the opportunity to capture the situation with their own eye and put their editing and filming skills to use on a worthwhile and sustainable project.
