Little Clinics Everywhere | Overview
Description and Impact
Twenty-five thousand people die every day in developing countries for lack of basic medicines that cost less than one dollar, and many Ghanaian people suffer from a lack of basic medical care. This organization envisions a world where basic healthcare is accessible to every individual in the developing world.
What is the overall goal of the project? This project involves health work in a microclinic that is accesible to citizens in the urban center of Cape Coast. They provide a pharmacy as well as a lab to run samples and tests on diseases pertinent to West Africa. Interns will also help the clinics’ directors organize and document patients’ applications for the national health insurance scheme. The clinic management team has identified franchisees (community health nurses), granted them an exclusive territory and are funding them to maintain a clinic that offers basic health services operating under strict regulations designed to ensure quality business performance. Currently, the medical staff is comprised of one senior doctor and frequent visiting junior doctors, four nurses and two temporary nurses, two physician assistants and one assistant PA, two lab technicians and two pharmacists.
