Intern in Heath Care Education at the Wellness Institute | Overview
Description and Impact
Access to quality healthcare is vital to every community’s need. Many Belizeans lack access to adequate levels of health care and weight control counseling. ProWorld has partnered with a wellness institute in Punta Gorda in order to address these issues at the local level. The institute focuses on holistic health and wellness education, and encourages Belizeans to take care of themselves at every level: physically, mentally, and spiritually.
What is the overall goal of the project? The goal of the wellness institute is to see people function to the highest capacity of health. To do so, it offers services such as colon irrigation, digestive health, mental and spiritual health counseling, detox/weight control counseling, as well as local home remedies. In addition, the wellness institute provides an intensive, eight-week course to the local people of the Toledo District.
