Help Women Recover at the House of Hope | Overview
This ProWorld program provides refuge for women, children, and adolescents who are victims of exploitation and sexual violence. Guests are invited to stay as long as they need to and provided with social and education services. Additionally, women learn to sew and make handicrafts so they can be economically independent when they leave.
Your responsibilities could include:
- Caring for the children
- Teaching English (only if you are a trained teacher)
- Providing support in the workshops
Many of the children don’t attend school, so volunteers are instant teachers. You may help a baby learn to walk in the morning, teach his sister to read at lunch, and walk her mother through basic money skills in the afternoon.
Spanish speakers and trained teachers encouraged to apply. 6 week minimum.
