Help Preserve and Protect Belize’s Parks and Sanctuaries | Overview
Description and Impact
Nearly half of Belize’s land is protected, but to preserve and sustain it, we need to study it, and ensure that the habitats remain viable. This ProWorld program sets up long-term ecosystems and biodiversity conservation projects. The organization works within the community to promote biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. In an effort to combat the deterioration of ecosystems and promote environmental conservation, this organization employs research and monitoring, outreach and education, and resource protection. The organization believes that these varied factors create the most successful approach to community conservation and development in the Toledo district of southern Belize.
What is the overall goal of the project? The goal of this organization is to preserve the Toledo district so that it may be sustained and enjoyed by generations to come. By managing ecosystems and biodiversity through conservation initiatives, education, research and outreach, this organization aims to empower communities to incorporate and promote this mentality themselves.
