Help Kids with Special Needs | Overview
Description and Impact
What is the overall goal of the project? This organization teaches students with special needs basic life skills, such as brushing teeth and washing hands, along with regular educational lessons such as reading and writing. Much of Ghana’s society trivializes people with disabilities and believes that they don’t have the capability of learning new skills. This organization proves otherwise and has been quite successful. Most of the teachers and assistants involved in this school lack experience or training in working with special needs students, so volunteers or interns with an educational or experiential background working with such students can greatly benefit the school.
