Help Girls at Risk

Description and Impact

Street orphans of Cusco and young girls from neglectful or abusive domestic environments lack basic necessities: food, lodging and education. They need a safe environment where they can grow and mature while learning skills that will allow them to be autonomous later in life.

What is the overall goal of the project? With the help of government aid, this orphanage seeks to care for and educate the 60 girls that reside there. Through the instruction of various practical skills and artistic trades such as cooking, weaving and ceramics, as well as providing a study space and homework assistance, the organization strives to prepare the girls to successfully reintegrate themselves into society. Upon completion of the 2-3 year reintegration program, some of the girls return to their families while others continue to another development program for young women.
