Hands-On Healthcare in Thailand

Meet local health care professionals.  Learn basic Thai and see how a holistic healthcare system works in the rural areas of a developing country.  ProWorld’s Hands-on Healthcare assigns you to community-guided health care projects and gives you an overview of the integrated projects in Thailand, with emphasis on rural health clinics, public health education, and a small construction project related to improving health and sanitation.

You’ll trek into hill tribe communities in the mountains outside of Chiang Mai to provide locals with basic medical care.  You will work with others in your group to integrate into the Thai culture and get some real hands-on health exposure and work.  Your project placements are based on the site director's assessment and community need.

Further Information:

  • Due to the fact that these clinics are set up in rural locations, participants should be prepared to walk for two or more hours a day.
  • Participants with Health qualification experience and skills will be able to participate in a more hands on way - though much of the work will involve shadowing.
  • Basic health education for the villagers is a very important part of the program and helps to increase the benefit of care that we are able to provide.  We expect to be working on helping with simple health concerns, infections, wounds, basic health check-ups, etc.
