Get High on Life on the Mountains | Overview
In the high Andes mountains, villagers eat what they grow. Upwards of 10,000’, what grows best is potatoes. This limited access to a variety of vegetables drives up infant mortality and forces villagers out to urban areas in search of work and food. Our program builds greenhouses, so people can grow a variety of food. The more greenhouses, the better the diets, the healthier the people, and the more sustainable the village.
If you’re looking for a mountain-top experience, this might be the internship for you. You’ll get the chance to:
- Help train community members through programs and workshops
- Prepare material for workshops
- Learn about the issues villagers face
- Support staff with office work
- Travel to multiple rural communities for several days at a time
Come prepared to live like a native. Most villages lack running water and electricity, but your help and enthusiasm means an improved community for them. Participants typically intern for 1 - 4 months.
