Diagnose and Treat Those with Hearing Disabilities | Overview
Overcoming both poverty and a disability is a huge challenge. When you cannot speak or be understood, you are completely at the mercy of those around you. This ProWorld program provides low-cost auditory education and rehabilitation services to children and adults with language and hearing problems. If you’re interested in child psychology, cognitive development or speech therapy, this could be the volunteer program for you. As a volunteer, you would:
- Support children with hearing loss while they attend school
- Assist in speech therapy groups
- Offer diagnosis treatment and continual professional support to children
- Facilitate early detection of hearing loss
- Prepare outreach materials and make contact with potential funders
Intermediate Spanish is required. Volunteers with computer and graphic design skills, and psychology or education backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Minimum 2 week time commitment required.
